You'll believe a man can fly at the Graphic Novel Reading Group!

Yes, it's that time again: the GNRG (Graphic Novel Reading Group if you're not too lazy to type) is almost upon us. It's this Saturday (July 15th) at 3.30pm, in the Adult Fiction section at Bolton Central Library.

We'll be talking about Art Spiegelman's Maus, as well as Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and the usual assortment of stuff we've all been reading. I will no doubt have seen Superman Returns by Saturday, so I expect to be quite excitable. It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Michael wearing a Superman T-shirt!

Thanks for that Michael, I hasten to add that there will also be scrummy biscuits and brews available, so hope to see everyone there. While I’m on the topic, we never decided what text we would like to cover, if any, for discussion at the August reading group. I thought about Frank Miller (having trouble linking to the talis prism records here Michael, help!!!) but I’m not sure there would be ample copies to circulate the group in time. Covering a certain superhero is also a possibility, perhaps Batman where we have plenty of volumes on the character.

That's Frank Miller and Batman.

It seems there's another Frank Miller who translated some classical texts - apologies to any classicists reading this, but it's a long time since I did Classical Studies at school. It's also worth mentioning that the Batman link probably won't pick up every Batman book we have, although some exciting developments on that front are imminent!
